As the grenadine sinks to the bottom, it creates a sunrise-like gradient of red and orange, giving the drink its name. It has a sweet, citrus-forward taste and relatively low alcohol content, making it a great choice for cocktail beginners. The drink became especially famous thanks to the Eagles’ song “Tequila Sunrise” released in the 1970s.
